Podcasting is Hard

By Paul Maglietta

Podcasting is tough. Now do not get me wrong, I throughly love it. I find myself more confident behind the microphone then I tend to do in real life. There is something so powerful and comforting about talking about something that you are passionate about, I mean we do it with out friends and family every day. It was an easy decision with my friends to create a podcast about all the pop culture content that we were already talking about for hours on end. It was not until we finally sat down in front of the microphone did we finally realize what exactly we had signed up for.

On March 13th, 2016 our very first podcast episode was released. Co-host Ronnie and I sat down with a Snowball Microphone, that we had split the costs of, and thought we were going to revolutionize podcasting forever..... I cannot even listen to that episode again. The very first episode of our first podcast, The Multiverse Fancast, had a ton of passion and good content but lacked in any sort of technical knowldge. From poor sound quality to zero editing, it was totally clear we had no idea what we were doing. But we were hooked.

It took years, almost six to be exact, to get where we are. We had a ton of ups and downs. We got our first sponsors, a publicist (which is a wild story for another day), new shows, shows that did not last (RIP Laces Out), and we still have fun along the way. If you guys are looking to do your own podcast, do it for the right reasons. Now we are in no way experts on Podcasting but take it from someone who suffered so pretty bad burnout from all the work that goes on behind the scenes, it was and still is totally worth it.
